Is my MyChart access code confidential?

It is extremely important that you keep your MyChart access code, login ID and password completely confidential from anyone. If your access code and password is available to others, they will be able to view your medical information and communicate with your clinic as if they were you.

Why does MyChart log you out?

To support security and confidentiality, MyChart will log you out after a period of inactivity. This feature ensures that your information is not left on the screen if you leave your computer. If your MyChart session automatically logs you out, simply log in again.

Is MyChart encrypted?

All communications between you and your clinic health care team using MyChart are carried over a secure, encrypted connection directly into the electronic medical record. While you may receive Internet e-mail messages notifying you of new messages in your MyChart Inbox, these e-mails will never contain any confidential medical information. All medical record information and MyChart messages securely reside behind information systems firewalls.

What is MyChart Virtual Care?

MyChart Virtual Care, an optional feature available with the latest Epic release, shows patients and their caregivers a personalized care plan developed by Mayo Clinic providers. The care plan is available from mobile phones, and anyone with access to it can check off daily to-dos or read educational information as they need it. Patients can even connect devices like digital scales to the app or send information from MyChart to their providers, giving them a single source of truth for managing chronic conditions or post-operative care. Mayo Clinic has so far contributed care plans to MyChart Virtual Care for conditions and care needs like congestive heart failure, asthma, and orthopedic surgery, with plans to develop many more.
